What to know before you apply
A gorilla trekking booking and immigration permission are separate. If you need a visa, select it using the countries and entries in your actual safari route, not just the park name. A Uganda-only holiday differs from arriving in Kigali, crossing into Uganda and returning to Rwanda. This service’s regional application route requires Uganda as the first entry.
Start my Uganda tourist applicationA trekking permit and a visa solve different problems
Booking a gorilla trek does not settle your immigration arrangements. The wildlife booking relates to the activity, while a visa or exemption relates to entering the country. Keep those decisions connected through one real itinerary, but do not treat payment for one as proof that the other is arranged.
Uganda Wildlife Authority identifies Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park as the country’s gorilla trekking locations. Use the park and lodge actually booked when preparing travel details. This website provides visa application assistance; it does not sell a gorilla permit or reserve a trekking place as part of the visa total.
Start with your international arrival country
A safari advertised as a “Uganda gorilla tour” may begin in another country. Read the flight itinerary rather than relying on the tour name. Your first arrival, each border crossing and the airport used to return home determine the entry questions you need to resolve.
| Safari route | Visa decision to resolve |
|---|---|
| Entebbe → Uganda lodge and trek → Entebbe | Check your Uganda tourist eligibility for one Uganda visit. |
| Entebbe → Uganda trek → Rwanda or Kenya | Compare the Uganda-first regional route with the separate permissions relevant to your passport. |
| Kigali → Uganda trek → Kigali | Resolve the Rwanda-first issuing route and the Uganda crossing; do not select a Uganda-first regional application by mistake. |
| Uganda → Tanzania → Uganda | Assess Tanzania separately and clarify Uganda re-entry; do not assume a regional visa continues unchanged after leaving its bloc. |
For a Uganda-only holiday, avoid buying an unnecessary category
If your complete tourist trip stays in Uganda and involves one entry, start by checking your nationality and passport eligibility for that visit. A higher-priced category is not automatically more suitable because a safari is expensive. Read the selected Tourist Visa checklist and use your real arrival and departure details.
Keep the safari confirmation available to help you enter the first accommodation name, address and contact details. If you move between lodges, the first stay does not need to pretend to be the whole holiday: a separate itinerary can explain the later nights when requested. Keep names consistent across passport, flight and tour records.
For a regional safari, settle the first-entry rule first
The central regional-visa guidance says that the issuing country must be the first entry point. This website’s East Africa application assistance is for the Uganda-issued route. If your first arrival is Kigali, do not select Uganda as the first country simply because your main activity is in Bwindi.
For an Entebbe-first route, use the regional itinerary example to connect your transport and nights across Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda. Do not add Tanzania to the same permission. Where official pages differ about leaving and returning to the bloc, obtain issuing-authority confirmation before relying on that part of a booking.
Prepare a safari application folder
- The passport you will actually travel with and its readable biodata-page copy.
- A separate recent portrait for that applicant.
- Genuine return or onward travel evidence, including an explanation of any different departure airport.
- The booked accommodation and operator contacts needed for the form.
- A short route timeline that identifies the country and border crossings, not only the park names.
- Any additional evidence requested for the selected category or your circumstances.
Health-entry rules are a separate check. Uganda’s 2 October 2026 notice removed the mandatory yellow-fever certificate requirement for entry into Uganda, while older category checklists still list it. Confirm the live application instructions and any other country’s rules for your route. This is not individual medical advice about vaccination.
Coordinate the visa with the dates you have booked
Use the application timing guide before committing to a close departure. An activity date does not make an immigration decision faster, and paying for assistance does not guarantee approval. Keep the safari provider informed if your permission is still unresolved.
When you are ready, select the category that fits your actual journey. The Tourist Visa application link on this article is for the Uganda tourist route. For a genuine Uganda-first regional journey, use the East Africa product page instead; it will preserve that category when you continue to the form.
Your questions answered
Does a gorilla trekking permit include a Uganda visa?
No. A trekking permit relates to the wildlife activity, while immigration permission relates to entering the country. Confirm both separately and keep the applicant details consistent across your bookings.
Can I use this Uganda-first regional service if I land in Kigali first?
Do not select the Uganda-issued East Africa route for a Rwanda-first arrival. The regional visa’s issuing country must be the first entry point. Check the correct Rwanda-first route and Uganda entry requirements for your particular journey.
Which Uganda parks have gorilla trekking?
Uganda Wildlife Authority identifies Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park as gorilla trekking locations. Your actual lodge, trekking date and transport arrangements should guide the travel details you submit.
Will the visa assistance price cover my safari or trekking permit?
No. The visa assistance total shown on this site is for the selected visa application service. Flights, safari arrangements and wildlife permits are separate purchases with their own providers.

Ready for the next step?
Use the first international arrival country and every later border crossing to choose the visa. A Kigali-first itinerary needs a different issuing-country route from an Entebbe-first regional trip.
