Which Uganda visa documents do you need?

For a single tourist visit, start with your passport biodata page, recent photograph and return or onward booking. A regional itinerary needs a separate check; repeated visits need additional evidence. The lists below reflect the upload fields in the application portal checked on 31 October 2026. Immigration can ask for further documents.

One visit to Uganda

Tourist Visa

  • Passport biodata page
  • Recent passport photograph
  • Return ticket

Also have your tour plan, booking details and accommodation address ready. The official tourism summary lists these supporting details.

East Africa Tourist Visa

  • Passport biodata page
  • Recent passport photograph
  • Return ticket
  • Travel itinerary

Show the first arrival, travel dates and the country order. Uganda must be the first regional entry on this application route. Read the regional itinerary guide.

Multiple Visa

  • Passport biodata page
  • Recent passport photograph
  • Police clearance certificate
  • First Uganda reference letter
  • Second Uganda reference letter
  • Reason for multiple entry
  • Previous Uganda travel

Prepare two separate Uganda reference letters and explain why one entry is insufficient. Immigration’s published referee wording is inconsistent; the portal uses two letter uploads. Check current instructions if your circumstances differ.

More than attached files

Passport, accommodation and travel details

01

Use your travel passport

Check at least six months of validity against your planned arrival. Keep the full biodata page visible, including its edges and machine-readable lines. Compare your name, passport number and dates with the form before sending.

02

Prepare a clear photo

Use a recent passport-style photograph. Avoid glare, filters or a screenshot of a photo displayed on another screen. Open the final file at a useful viewing size; a small file is only helpful if the face remains clear.

03

Have your Uganda address ready

The form asks for a host, hotel or organisation name, address and telephone number. Keep your reservation or host details available. An address typed in a field does not replace additional evidence if immigration requests it.

04

Make one travel timeline

Write your arrival, entry point, intended stay and departure in order. Compare that timeline with the ticket and itinerary. For a regional safari, identify the first airport and each country rather than relying on the tour’s marketing name.

Yellow-fever checklist conflict

The 2 October 2026 immigration notice says a certificate is no longer mandatory for entry into Uganda, while older category pages still list it. Confirm current application instructions. Kenya, Rwanda and transit-country requirements need separate checks; the Uganda notice does not establish their rules.

A quick preparation check

Check your document file size and format

Prepare each upload as JPEG, PNG, BMP or PDF, between 5 KB and 250 KB (5,120–256,000 bytes). Supporting documents must be in English. These are the portal instructions checked on 31 October 2026; follow any updated instructions when applying.

A file-name and size check cannot verify document content, authenticity, readability, English language or eligibility. Our application performs separate upload validation.

What should I fix if a file is too large or unclear?

Work on a copy and keep the original. Export a photograph at a lower resolution or reduce the scan quality gradually, then reopen the result and inspect every character. Keep all relevant pages of a certificate together. Renaming a HEIC or Word file to “.jpg” does not convert it. Use a device tool to export a supported format, and avoid public file-sharing links for sensitive documents.

One final review

Before you send your visa application

Still choosing a product? Compare the Uganda-first East Africa route with Multiple Entry durations and evidence before continuing. Your selected product controls the application checklist.

  1. Match the person

Use the same passport and spelling throughout. With dual nationality, choose the passport you will actually carry. Check a passport-specific guide for your travel context.

  2. Match the journey

Compare the visa category, entry country, dates and accommodation. A regional visa is for tourism in its participating countries; it is not permission to work.

  3. Open the final files

Check the saved version, not just the scan preview. Look for cropped edges, missing pages, unreadable text and a ticket for the wrong traveller.

  4. Keep a reachable email

Review your contact email and retain your application reference. Respond to further evidence requests. An assistance request or payment receipt is not an immigration approval.

Direct answers

Uganda visa document questions

What documents do I need for a Uganda tourist eVisa?

The Tourist Visa upload checklist on our form is a passport biodata page, a recent passport photograph and a return or onward ticket. Also prepare your tour plan, travel bookings and hotel reservation or host address: Uganda Immigration lists these in its tourism guidance, even where the portal collects travel details in form fields.

How much passport validity do I need?

Uganda Immigration lists at least six months of passport validity. Check this against your intended arrival and use the same passport for the application and journey. A new passport may require a new application; confirm the correct procedure before travelling.

What file formats and sizes can I upload?

Our form accepts JPEG, PNG, BMP or PDF, from 5 KB to 250 KB per file (5,120 to 256,000 bytes). These limits match the portal instructions checked on 31 October 2026. Documents must be in English. A file passing the size check can still be unreadable or require additional evidence.

Does an East Africa Tourist Visa need extra documents?

Prepare the passport, photo and return or onward booking plus a detailed itinerary. Show Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda in travel order with dates and accommodation. For the Uganda application route, Uganda must be the first regional entry. Check each destination and transit country separately.

What extra evidence does a Multiple Visa need?

Our checklist includes police clearance, two Uganda reference letters, a cover letter explaining repeated visits and evidence of Uganda entries and exits during the last year, as well as a passport copy and photo. Choose the 6, 12 or 24 month option that matches your trip; a requested term is not a guarantee of approval.

Is a yellow-fever certificate mandatory for Uganda?

Uganda Immigration’s notice dated 2 October 2026 says it is no longer mandatory for entry into Uganda. Older category checklists still list the certificate. Confirm current application instructions and the separate requirements of other destinations and transit countries. Entry documentation and personal health advice are different questions.

Can I check my document without uploading it here?

Yes. The preparation checker on this page reads the file name, format and size inside your browser. It does not read the document contents, send the file or save it. This checks upload preparation only; it does not verify a passport, document authenticity or visa eligibility.

Sources and review

Uganda Visa checks the published guidance against the application fields. The category pages and dated notice were reviewed on 1 November 2026; the portal field snapshot is dated 31 October 2026. Where sources differ, we explain the difference rather than treating every older checklist as current.
