Uganda eVisa for Nepali Citizens

A Nepali applicant should enter the passport's given names and surname consistently, rather than copying an abbreviated booking name. Nepal's passport instructions help identify those fields, while Uganda sets the visa and document requirements. Resolve a replaced or lost passport and the actual reason for travel before opening a paid request.

The short answer

Do Nepali citizens need a visa for Uganda?

Nepali ordinary-passport holders need a visa for a Uganda holiday. Nepal is not on Uganda's ordinary-passport exemption list and is available in the inspected application choices. Prepare the current passport and the selected tourism documents before travel. Nepal's own passport instructions distinguish given names from the surname; use the issued document's details consistently in the Uganda application.

Identify the given names and surname from the issued passport

Nepal's Department of Passports explains given names as the first and middle names other than the surname. Use that distinction when checking the actual passport and the Uganda form. A passenger reservation may abbreviate a middle name or present the names in another order. Do not let that shortened display become a different passport identity in the application.

Read the biodata page and compare every name field before paying. If your passport has an unusual arrangement or the online field rules do not fit, ask about the appropriate entry rather than inventing an additional surname. A Uganda application cannot correct the underlying Nepali passport record. Where the document itself needs amendment, resolve that through the responsible passport service before using conflicting particulars.

Do not use a passport reported lost for a new request

Nepal's Department of Passports warns that a passport reported lost or stolen must not be used even if it is later recovered. Check which document is valid for the journey before entering its number or uploading a scan. Finding an older saved file on your phone does not establish that it can still be used for international travel.

If a replacement passport has been issued, prepare the new biodata page and compare its particulars with the travel bookings. Do not assume that an earlier Uganda request or permission follows the replacement automatically. Explain the situation to the appropriate authority or service handling the request, and check the travel document's acceptance for transit countries as well as Uganda. Keep the originals of the relevant records.

Your application decision

A Nepali booking abbreviates the middle name

Planning example: The passport shows more complete given names than the reservation. Check the actual fields before completing the English application.

  • Identify given names and surname from the passport.
  • Do not use a document previously reported lost.
  • Resolve the discrepancy before payment without inventing another name.

Get your documents ready

Uganda eVisa requirements for Nepali passport holders

For a Tourist Visa, prepare these files and your travel details. Use the passport you will carry to Uganda. The application checklist changes when you select a different visa category.

  • Passport biodata page

A clear copy of the details page. Your passport needs at least six months of validity.

  • Recent passport photograph

A clear passport-style photograph taken within the last six months.

  • Return ticket

Your return flight or onward travel booking.

  • Accommodation and travel plan

Have your Uganda accommodation address, intended arrival date, entry point and planned stay ready. Keep booking details and a tour plan available if requested.

Upload preparation

The live portal instructions specify JPEG, PNG, BMP or PDF, 5–250 KB per file, with supporting documents in English. Keep the original documents for travel. Further evidence may be requested.

Visa options and total prices

Choose by your destinations and entry pattern. These are Uganda Visa totals per applicant in US dollars.

Tourist Visa

USD 99

One tourist visit to Uganda. A stay of up to three months can be granted; follow the conditions on your authorisation.

Start Tourist Visa →

East Africa Tourist Visa

USD 199

Tourism in Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda for 90 days. Enter Uganda first when applying through Uganda. It ends if you leave the three-country area and is not renewable.

Prepare a detailed itinerary in addition to the tourist documents.

Choose East Africa Tourist Visa →

Multiple Visa

From USD 199

For repeated visits to Uganda: USD 199 for 6 or 12 months, or USD 299 for 24 months. Validity does not mean you can stay continuously for that entire period.

Additional evidence includes police clearance, two Uganda referee letters, a reason for multiple entry and proof of Uganda entries and exits during the previous year.

Review Multiple Visa →

Planning more than one country? Read the East Africa Tourist Visa requirements and first-entry guide. For repeated Uganda visits, compare the 6-, 12- and 24-month Multiple Entry choices. Immigration decides approval and the stay permitted.

Choose a holiday route only for a genuine tourist visit

Prepare the Uganda accommodation address, intended arrival, travel plan and return or onward booking so they describe one coherent holiday. A document merely titled invitation or booking may not explain the actual activity. Check the dates and traveller's name against the passport before uploading. Immigration can ask for further information even where the initial attachment list has been completed.

A job, placement, course or other non-holiday purpose needs its own immigration assessment. Do not use the Tourist form by changing the description of the real activity. This website offers three listed visa products, not every permit or authorisation a traveller might need. If the purpose or a required supporting document remains unresolved, ask the relevant question before making a paid request.

Write the full regional journey before selecting East Africa

For a Nepali traveller combining Uganda with Kenya or Rwanda, identify the first arrival in the participating region. Departing Nepal does not determine the issuing country. A Uganda-first tourism plan can be checked against the regional guide; a Nairobi-first itinerary requires checking the Kenya route. Any transit-country entry rules remain separate from the regional tourism product.

Prepare English supporting information from any Nepali-language booking and review the final files with the selected category and total. Use the passport's exact details and retain the request reference and reachable email. A booking invoice, payment confirmation or acknowledgement identifies a different step from immigration approval. Follow requests for more evidence through the provider's correct system before relying on a travel permission.

Questions from Nepali travellers

How should a Nepali applicant separate given names and surname?

Check the issued passport. Nepal's Department of Passports describes given names as first and middle names other than the surname. Resolve an unusual field arrangement before payment rather than inventing another name or copying a booking abbreviation.

Can I use a recovered Nepali passport after reporting it lost?

Nepal's Department of Passports says a passport reported lost or stolen must not be used even if recovered. Resolve the valid replacement document before preparing its details for a new Uganda request.

Does a Nepali departure determine the regional visa issuing country?

No. Check the first entry into the participating regional area. Uganda-first, Kenya-first and Rwanda-first holidays need the relevant issuing-country assessment; the country where the journey originally begins is a different fact.

Can a Nepali worker describe a placement as tourism to use this form?

Do not misdescribe the purpose. Establish the correct immigration permission before a paid request. The offered tourism products and an assistance reference do not provide work or placement authorisation.

How much is a Uganda visa for Nepali citizens?

Uganda Visa's total price per applicant is USD 99 for a Tourist Visa and USD 199 for an East Africa Tourist Visa. Multiple Visa costs USD 199 for 6 or 12 months, or USD 299 for 24 months. The selected total appears before you send your application.

How long does a Uganda eVisa take to process?

The review time depends on the visa category, completeness of the application and immigration checks. Submit before travel and allow time for further document requests. Your intended arrival date is not a promised decision date. Monitor the email address used for the application.

How long can I stay, and when should I use my approval?

A single-entry visit can be granted for up to three months; your issued permission controls the actual stay. Uganda Immigration says the approval authorisation must be used within 90 days of approval. The travel window and the stay granted are different. Read both before departure.
