Do Dutch citizens need a visa for Uganda?
Yes. Dutch ordinary-passport holders need a visa for a tourist visit to Uganda and should apply online before departure. NederlandWereldwijd specifies at least six months of passport validity on arrival and advises carrying a printed approval letter. Select the passport you will actually use, then choose between a single Uganda visit and an East Africa Tourist Visa that matches your first country of entry.

Start with the Dutch passport, including each child's
Check the expiry date against your planned arrival in Uganda rather than the day you submit the form. Dutch foreign-affairs guidance uses a six-month validity threshold on arrival. Renew a passport that will fall short before applying, so that the travel document, booking details and visa request can refer to the same passport number.
For a family travelling from the Netherlands, prepare a separate document folder for each traveller. NederlandWereldwijd says children also need a valid passport and visa. If a child travels with one parent or another adult, consult the Dutch guidance on travelling with minors for the consent and supporting documents appropriate to your circumstances. A family tour booking does not settle those checks.

Map your holiday before selecting the visa
Consider two different plans. For a holiday arriving in Uganda, staying within Uganda and departing without returning, review the single-entry Tourist Visa. If your plan combines Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda, look at the East Africa Tourist Visa instead. Write down the order of countries before choosing: the regional visa's issuing country must be your first entry into the participating area.
An itinerary organised in the Netherlands may include several operators, so ask for one overview showing border crossings and nights in each country. For an application through Uganda, a Rwanda-first route needs reconsideration. A side trip outside the three participating countries also changes the analysis, because leaving that area ends the regional permission. Discuss a revised route before submitting an application based on an earlier version.

A Dutch family holiday: prepare one traveller at a time
Planning example: Two Dutch parents and their child plan one Uganda holiday. A shared itinerary makes planning easier, but the application details, document files and passport validity must be checked for each person.
- Prepare the child’s own passport and photograph; an adult’s application does not replace the child’s preparation.
- Check consent or accompanying-adult documents against the family’s circumstances and the Dutch travel guidance.
- If one family member has another nationality, open that passport guide before using the same product choice for everyone.

Uganda eVisa requirements for Dutch passport holders
For a Tourist Visa, prepare these files and your travel details. Use the passport you will carry to Uganda. The application checklist changes when you select a different visa category.
Passport biodata page
A clear copy of the details page. Your passport needs at least six months of validity.
Recent passport photograph
A clear passport-style photograph taken within the last six months.
Return ticket
Your return flight or onward travel booking.
Accommodation and travel plan
Have your Uganda accommodation address, intended arrival date, entry point and planned stay ready. Keep booking details and a tour plan available if requested.
The live portal instructions specify JPEG, PNG, BMP or PDF, 5–250 KB per file, with supporting documents in English. Keep the original documents for travel. Further evidence may be requested.
Checklist: live immigration portal and tourist visa guidance. Check current entry-document notices and your departure-country travel advice before travel; older category checklists can differ.
Visa options and total prices
Choose by your destinations and entry pattern. These are Uganda Visa totals per applicant in US dollars.
Planning more than one country? Read the East Africa Tourist Visa requirements and first-entry guide. For repeated Uganda visits, compare the 6-, 12- and 24-month Multiple Entry choices. Immigration decides approval and the stay permitted.
Turn your tour confirmation into usable application details
A Dutch-language travel confirmation may explain your holiday clearly to you while leaving the application fields unanswered. Make a short preparation sheet with your arrival date, first accommodation's name and address, contact details, intended departure and the passport spelling of your name. This is an organisational suggestion, not an additional certificate you must purchase or have notarised.
Where a booking includes multiple travellers, identify which pages show your own journey. Check that any document you plan to upload is readable and relevant to the selected category. Uganda's published instructions require attached documents in English; arrange appropriate English supporting material where needed. Keep the original confirmation too, and avoid inventing accommodation details just to finish a required field.

Keep the approval letter accessible during the journey
When an approval arrives, inspect its name, passport number and travel conditions before saving it with your departure documents. The Netherlands' official advice specifically recommends printing the approval letter. A paper copy is useful when your phone battery is low or you cannot connect to mobile data. Keep the physical passport with your hand luggage rather than checked baggage.
Revisit NederlandWereldwijd shortly before travel and use its information service if you want updates. Review any transit-country conditions against the actual ticket, particularly if you leave an airport or collect checked bags. Ask your tour organiser how itinerary changes will be communicated while you are away. Save the visa reference separately from your tour operator's booking reference so that a follow-up request is easy to identify.

Questions from Dutch travellers
Can I travel to Uganda with a Dutch identity card?
Prepare a passport for this journey. NederlandWereldwijd's Uganda guidance specifies a valid Dutch passport with at least six months remaining on arrival. Enter the passport details used for the trip in the visa application; a Dutch identity card used for European travel does not replace that passport preparation.

Do Dutch children need their own Uganda visa preparation?
Yes. Dutch foreign-affairs guidance says children also need a valid passport and visa. Review each child's documents separately. For travel with one parent or another accompanying adult, use the Netherlands' guidance on minors to check the supporting consent documents relevant to the family situation.

Can I apply through Uganda if my holiday starts in Rwanda?
For an East Africa Tourist Visa, the country issuing the visa must be the first country of entry. If Rwanda is the first participating country on your itinerary, check the application route with Rwanda rather than selecting Uganda simply because more of your holiday takes place there.

Should I print the approval letter before leaving the Netherlands?
Yes. NederlandWereldwijd advises printing the approval letter and bringing it for arrival in Uganda. Check its details against your passport first. Keep a digital backup as well, with your travel booking and accommodation details available during the journey in case you need to explain your plans.

How much is a Uganda visa for Dutch citizens?
Uganda Visa's total price per applicant is USD 99 for a Tourist Visa and USD 199 for an East Africa Tourist Visa. Multiple Visa costs USD 199 for 6 or 12 months, or USD 299 for 24 months. The selected total appears before you send your application.
How long does a Uganda eVisa take to process?
The review time depends on the visa category, completeness of the application and immigration checks. Submit before travel and allow time for further document requests. Your intended arrival date is not a promised decision date. Monitor the email address used for the application.

How long can I stay, and when should I use my approval?
A single-entry visit can be granted for up to three months; your issued permission controls the actual stay. Uganda Immigration says the approval authorisation must be used within 90 days of approval. The travel window and the stay granted are different. Read both before departure.
