Do Swiss citizens need a visa for Uganda?
Swiss ordinary-passport holders require a visa for a Uganda holiday. Switzerland is not on Uganda's ordinary-passport exemption list. Prepare the online application using the Swiss passport you will carry, with the passport validity and supporting evidence required by the selected Uganda category. A Swiss residence permit held by a different nationality does not make that traveller a Swiss visa applicant.

A Swiss address and a Swiss passport lead to different checks
Use this guide when applying with an ordinary Swiss passport. A person living in Switzerland on another country's passport should use that passport's guide and enter Swiss residence separately in the form. Conversely, a Swiss citizen living abroad still needs to check the Swiss travel document they will use. An address or residence card is not a substitute for the passport biodata page.
For a couple with different nationalities, prepare two identity checks even if every hotel and flight is shared. Compare the passport number and expiry against the intended Uganda entry date before starting. If a replacement passport will be issued before the journey, resolve which document will be carried and use its actual details; do not assume an application made with an earlier number transfers automatically.

Use FDFA advice to assess the itinerary before the visa purchase
The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs publishes Uganda travel advice with regional distinctions and contacts for Swiss assistance. Read the current advice against the actual parks and border areas on your itinerary. A visa application concerns entry permission; it cannot establish that the FDFA recommends every part of a route or that an insurer covers the activities you selected.
For example, ask the tour organiser to identify an intended cross-border excursion rather than relying on the word safari. Check whether it changes a booking, the countries entered or a later return to Uganda. Consult the responsible official channels about current conditions before finalising that crossing. This is itinerary preparation, not a claim that a particular crossing is open or suitable on your travel date.

A Swiss resident couple travels on different nationalities
Planning example: One partner holds a Swiss passport and the other a different passport. Their shared Uganda booking does not create one nationality assessment.
- Use the guide matching each travel passport.
- Ask for a reservation identifying both applicants.
- Compare any border excursion with current FDFA advice and the issuing-country conditions.

Uganda eVisa requirements for Swiss passport holders
For a Tourist Visa, prepare these files and your travel details. Use the passport you will carry to Uganda. The application checklist changes when you select a different visa category.
Passport biodata page
A clear copy of the details page. Your passport needs at least six months of validity.
Recent passport photograph
A clear passport-style photograph taken within the last six months.
Return ticket
Your return flight or onward travel booking.
Accommodation and travel plan
Have your Uganda accommodation address, intended arrival date, entry point and planned stay ready. Keep booking details and a tour plan available if requested.
The live portal instructions specify JPEG, PNG, BMP or PDF, 5–250 KB per file, with supporting documents in English. Keep the original documents for travel. Further evidence may be requested.
Checklist: live immigration portal and tourist visa guidance. Check current entry-document notices and your departure-country travel advice before travel; older category checklists can differ.
Visa options and total prices
Choose by your destinations and entry pattern. These are Uganda Visa totals per applicant in US dollars.
Planning more than one country? Read the East Africa Tourist Visa requirements and first-entry guide. For repeated Uganda visits, compare the 6-, 12- and 24-month Multiple Entry choices. Immigration decides approval and the stay permitted.
Ask for traveller details in the tour documents
A reservation issued by a Swiss or overseas organiser may identify the lead guest rather than everyone travelling. Check that the evidence you prepare makes your own identity and itinerary understandable. Keep the accommodation address, arrival arrangements and onward or return booking available. Supporting information should agree with the passport and the travel dates entered in the Uganda request.
If your bookings are in German, French or Italian, prepare English supporting information in line with the Uganda upload instructions. Reopen the final files after exporting them and check the passenger names, dates and page edges. A smaller file is useful only if the details remain readable; the device-only checker assesses file properties, not the authenticity or sufficiency of a reservation.

Choose one Uganda visit, a regional holiday or repeated visits
An itinerary wholly within Uganda can be assessed against the single-entry Tourist option. A Uganda-first holiday continuing through Kenya or Rwanda calls for the regional comparison. Repeated Uganda arrivals over a longer period require a different evidence check under Multiple Entry. The duration of a holiday, the number of lodges and the number of international entries are separate pieces of information.
Keep your chosen product consistent through the document checklist and review screen. Before a paid request, ask about an unclear purpose or a missing Multiple Entry document rather than uploading a placeholder. For follow-up, use the reference from the service handling your request. Swiss consular contacts, this website's support and the Uganda government status system do not operate one shared application record.

Questions from Swiss travellers
Does Swiss residence make my Uganda application Swiss?
No. Use the nationality and details of the passport you will carry. If you hold a non-Swiss passport and live in Switzerland, check that passport's eligibility and enter Swiss residence in the separate residence fields.

Does FDFA travel advice decide my Uganda visa?
No. FDFA advice helps Swiss travellers assess risks and obtain consular information. Uganda Immigration decides entry permission. Read both for your route rather than treating visa eligibility as a travel-safety recommendation.

Can I use a French-language Swiss tour reservation without checking it?
Check that it identifies the traveller, accommodation and route, and prepare English supporting information as requested by Uganda's instructions. Do not assume the tour's brand name supplies every detail needed in the application.

Which visa should a Swiss traveller consider for repeated Uganda arrivals?
Compare the ordinary Multiple Entry evidence and durations with the actual entry sequence. An East Africa Tourist Visa is a different regional tourism product. Resolve a route leaving its participating area before relying on a later return.

How much is a Uganda visa for Swiss citizens?
Uganda Visa's total price per applicant is USD 99 for a Tourist Visa and USD 199 for an East Africa Tourist Visa. Multiple Visa costs USD 199 for 6 or 12 months, or USD 299 for 24 months. The selected total appears before you send your application.
How long does a Uganda eVisa take to process?
The review time depends on the visa category, completeness of the application and immigration checks. Submit before travel and allow time for further document requests. Your intended arrival date is not a promised decision date. Monitor the email address used for the application.

How long can I stay, and when should I use my approval?
A single-entry visit can be granted for up to three months; your issued permission controls the actual stay. Uganda Immigration says the approval authorisation must be used within 90 days of approval. The travel window and the stay granted are different. Read both before departure.
